Expands department, stresses specialization

Always a step ahead, Prairie States has made some big advances on the technology front. Over the summer, we made a strong push to make our Information Technology department even more robust, adding new, expert staff to keep up with our growth, and to support our evolving list of innovative services.

Under the direction of IT Director Todd Henson, Prairie States has put a new emphasis on specialization, adding key personnel to focus on specific applications and tasks, rather than relying on an “IT generalist” approach. “Specialization enables us to better support the applications our customers and staff depend upon,” says Henson, “and ensures that we will deliver the right data to the right place at the right time.”

With the revamped department up and running, Prairie States is staying ahead of the game, anticipating the new challenges and demands that arise with legislative changes, and shifts in the marketplace. “We’ve positioned ourselves to meet the demands of high tech firms,” says Prairie States CEO Felicia Wilhelm, “anyone who’s looking for the latest in interactive web access, custom reporting, predictive modeling. IT has been a strength for us, but we’re always looking for new ways to do things better.”

Henson agrees. “We have significantly enhanced our ability to meet the rapidly changing information needs of our customer,” he says. “If you’re standing still, you’re falling behind.”
